“In 1492 Columbus sailed the ocean blue…”
We all learned that little ditty in grade school, along with how Columbus’ expeditions not only “discovered America,” but also “proved the Earth was round.”
Over 400 years later, NASA provided what should have been incontrovertible proof — with photos of the Earth from space — that we are indeed living on a sphere hurtling around the sun.
Yet, that has not stopped the so-called “Flat Earth Society” from believing otherwise. And, now the “Flat Earthers” as believers of this theory have become known, say they are mounting an expedition that will prove them right.
According to the NY Post, the Flat Earthers are planning to sail to Antarctica to find the frozen barrier they believe marks the edge of our world. According to Flat Earth doctrine, the supposed “ice wall” is said to be a couple thousand feet thick, towers 164 feet high and surrounds the entire planet.
The expedition, which is planned for next year is being organized by the Flat Earth International Conference (FEIC).
While details of the trip remain very secretive, FEIC founder Robbie Davidson told Forbes, “If you take a globe and you squish it down, the Antarctic would go all the way around the Earth. It’s kind of like an ice shore, and it’s very, very large. It’s not like you just go there and you can just peek over it. We don’t believe anything can fall off the edge, because a big portion of the flat earth community believes that we’re in a dome, like a snow globe. So the sun, moon, and stars are all inside. It’s very high but all contained inside. So there’s no way to actually fall off of the earth.”
Wow, that is certainly a relief!
A Roundabout Way to Travel a Flat Earth?
But many are quick to point out the very ship which will take them to their alleged edge of the world, could only safely get them there by using navigational equipment which counts on the Earth being a sphere. Global Position Systems in particular use a network of satellites that orbit the Earth to ping off of each other and pinpoint one’s location.
In a report by The Guardian, Henk Keijer, a longtime cruise ship captain gave his thoughts on the FEIC’s plans. “I have sailed two million miles, give or take,” he said. “I have not encountered one sea captain who believes the Earth is flat.”
Some people believe the world is flat because they cannot see a curve in photos or when traveling. Others claim images showing the world as a sphere are generated on a computer and not actually taken from space. A general consensus by Flat Earthers is that the idea of the world being round is a way NASA can dupe society along with governments to keep control.
The Flat Earth Society suggests that “the space agencies of the world” conspired to fake “space travel” to hide the Earth’s “biggest secret.” This likely began during the Cold War,” the Flat Earth Society says. “The USSR and USA were obsessed with beating each other into space to the point that each faked their accomplishments in an attempt to keep pace.”
The FEIC has not responded to requests by any of the publications mentioned in this post for more information on the planned Flat Earth cruise.
As far as this reporter is concerned, as the owner of four frisky felines, I can attest to the fact that if the Earth were flat, the cats of the world would have already pushed everything off of it by now!
These explorers may have high hopes, but they will be stopped before they get to the Antarctica. There is an international treaty and all nations have an outpost of sorts down there. But whatever is down there, they will not divulge as they feel we’re not “ready” to hear the truth. Admiral Byrd told us that there is a “vast land beyond Antarctica” with vast resources. There are also reports of aliens and/or another race of people, UFOs, hollow earth, and 18 foot thick massive doors that open with a finger touch. Too unbelievable to comprehend. Good luck on their mission and I hope they make it. And I hope they’re allowed to tell us what they really found down there…
You need to re-send the email with the link to this article, it doesn’t work. I had to find it a different way.
There are many inaccuracies in this article. You state that you are talking about and quoting the “Flat Earth Society” but the group you are referring to is NOT that group. You must have made an assumption. Check your sources again, they do not call themselves that, that is a different group altogether.
I have a hard time believing anyone can believe the earth is flat. Common sense SHOULD tell you otherwise. Why do you think light houses are built on hills or on the top of very high pillars? The Romans and the Greeks even figured that out thousands of years ago. When ships are coming toward land the higher the light the sooner the ships can see it. Why? Because of the curvature of the earth. When coming in toward land from being well out to see you will notice the top of the light house shows up first, then slowly but surely more of the pillar shows up until finally you can actually see the land itself. Yet these brainiacs can’t figure this out. I find people like this to be disgusting. Don’t bother me with the facts, my mind is made up, just like liberals.
And yet no mention of the mathematics involved…math does not lie…taking the sphere which is 25,000 miles in circumference at the equator, Earth, and using the Pythagorean thorium to find the degree of curvature, you end up with 8 inches of drop after the first mile of distance traveled which is then squared because it is a curve and not a straight line, 64 inches of drop at mile 2, square that again for 4096 inches of drop at mile 3 which is 341.33 feet of drop after 3 miles of distance. You would be able to see such a drop but said curvature is not observable, it simply is not there. We were lied to, we do not live on a sphere, NASA had every motivation to fake it all, and a budget to make the lie believable, MATH DOES NOT LIE! Instead of dismissing the idea, why don’t you use your brain, a few simple math skills and prove to yourselves the earth is not a sphere.
Trump supporters……They sure are dumb
