TOLEDO, Ohio. — For most of us, if we called a dentist office during this coronavirus pandemic, we may get a generic voice messaging system. But not all dentist offices are closed and there’s one dentist who has still been putting in hours.
“It’s been really great, but at the same time pretty terrifying,” said Dr. Katelyn Cody with the Dental Center of Northwest Ohio. “One of the main transmissions of COVID-19 is through the mouth and we are up and close to people’s mouths as our job requires.
Dr. Cody says as of right now, dentist office is only taking emergency appointments only.
“Some people come in with a golf ball size swelling on their face, that considered an emergency,” she said. “If you have an abscess or if there looks like there’s a gum pimple on your gums, that’s also an emergency,” she said.
Dr. Cody went on to say she can’t stress the importance of going to dental facility for a tooth emergency, instead of an ER enough.
“We definitely want to keep people out of the ER because we want to save masks, and all of the gloves because there’s just not a lot going on and we want that for the doctors saving people from COVID,” she said.
I unfortunately had a lower molar on my left side break so called on Friday and saw my dentist on Monday and yes she had to extract the tooth as she’s trying to remove the tooth it broke so what should have been a 45 minute ended up being 2 1/2 hours plus in removing the tooth she pulled the filling out of the tooth next to it So tomorrow (4/24 ) I return to have a permanent filing put it Very caring dentist ?
How are you able to keep your office open. If it was mandated to stay close and only attend “emergencies”.
