Royalty tends to have many advantages over us more common folk, but immunity to the coronavirus is not one of them. As we reported earlier in these pages Prince Charles of Britain has tested positive for the disease, and now, the first Royal to have contracted COVID-19 has died of the disease.
Princess Maria Teresa of Spain, aged 86, has died after testing positive for coronavirus. The princess, of the Bourbon-Parma Royal Family in Spain, has become the first royal around the world to die after contracting the killer virus.
Her heartbroken younger brother, Prince Sixtus Henry of Bourbon-Parma, said she passed away on March 28.
The royals are members of the House of Bourbon-Parma which is a cadet branch of the Spanish royal family, descended from the French Capetian dynasty. A cadet branch is created when a young member of a Royal Family, who is not the current heir, is granted lands and titles of his own.
Princess Maria Teresa was born in Paris, France on July 28, 1933 to parents, Prince Xavier and Madeleine de Bourbon, who had a total of six children.
Members of the late princess’ family once ruled as King of Etruria and as Duke of Parma and Piacenza, Guastalla, and Lucca until 1859.
Princess Maria did not have any children of her own, but she is survived by a number of nieces and nephews, including Prince Carlos of Bourbon-Parma, Duke of Parma and Piacenza, Princess Margarita and Prince Jaime
News of the princess’s death just as Spain registered a record number of coronavirus deaths in a single-day period, with the army now being handed emergency powers to transfer bodies because undertakers are unable to cope with the horrifying numbers.
The number of deaths from Covid-19 in Spain is now over 7000, with over 85,000 confirmed cases, placing it second behind the US in total numbers of cases, and 2nd only to Italy in the number of deaths.
Horrifying and terrifying to hear these numbers. Nonetheless, wearing a mask brings its own questions. My safe place is my own home. My need to leave it is minimal. Keeping my hands off my face is a challenge.
Wash hands vigorously with soap 20 seconds or more. Keep hands from face. Don’t shake hands. Stay at home as much as possible. Communicate with your family and friends via telephone or text. Take in much Vitamin C daily.
China, the maker of this horrific virus thinks that they will get away with this devastating virus. They just dug their economical tomb. I am sure people will think twice, or triple about purchasing anything made in China. Threatening America is a big mistake and they just did it. Even before this corona virus epidemic came into being, my wife and I did not buy anything made in China. Their hygiene habits leave much to be desired. Ugh!!! America, buy MADE IN AMERICA products.
??????
After reading many articles on China and WHO I’m absolutely appalled by the words and actions which they both say China had nothing to do with this virus ? now China has released many persons into back in public which is unbelievable.. China MUST STAND UP AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR WHAT THEY DID .
